A native of Hebbronville, Texas, Humberto Almaraz' broad background includes writing original bilingual (English and Spanish) children's songs, stories and scripts. Mr. Almaraz is also very much involved in the television production and directing of his works.

The most recent project he created, wrote, developed and produced is an early childhood environmental education curriculum supplement titled: Toby Globy's Eco Team. The program includes a teacher's kit that provides a DVD movie that features child actors and Toby Globy, an eco-friendly mascot who teaches and encourages children to be good eco-stewards, through fun (bilingual) songs and activities. Other recent projects are two water conservation school plays for early childhood (in English and Spanish)

This fun/educational program has been implemented in many schools and day care centers, and the City of Laredo won the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's 2005 Texas Environmental Excellence Award for the Environmental Education category (the state's highest honor). In addition, the City of Corpus Christi has also adopted the program for use by Head Start, private day care centers and public elementary schools.

Harris County Department of Education (Houston) and schools in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas have implemented the Toby Globy's Eco Team curriculum as well.
